Chantelle JonesIllustration, Photography & Branding
Hi, my name is Chantelle and I am a Graphic Designer and Photographer based in Perth, WA. I wish to create and improve visual designs of today that will last and continue into tomorrow, these designs will be creative and to the point in a unique and beautiful way.
I love Illustrating new and beautiful designs and art. Each piece of my art and each of my illustrations has a story or an idea behind it, making them more than just visuals. I do my own photography and love to find inspiration out in the real world and use forms found in my designs.
What inspired you to become a graphic designer?
At first I just wanted to do an Arts course but when I did my very first course at TAFE Cert III Design Fundamentals, I found Graphic Design to be intriguing, so here I am.
What are your favourite typefaces?
Avenir, I can actually remember the name of it and it is (in my opinion) a good typeface for typing out a story or simple paper. Readable/legible/neat.
How would you describe your style?
My style is being worked on, I don't really have much of a style as of yet, I like to explore and just draw and design as I go. But I aim to have some sort of style before the end of 2018. I really would just love to create artworks in a more detailed illustrative style.
Who are your role models and why?
Hayao Miyazaki of Studio Ghibli, his art style is unique and gives you the feeling of liveliness in each scene of Studio Ghibli's movies.
What else are you interested in outside graphic design?
Photography, writing and gaming.
What do you get up to outside of TAFE?
I like to do photography with my dad, we will take our cameras and tripods out to a park or bit of bush land and look for inspiration. I like to write my own small stories and am in the process of writing my main story which I plan on finishing and making into a series of books. I spend my weekends trying to keep social and during any free time in between everything I might sneak in a game on Xbox or playing Pokemon Go.
What are most proud of accomplishing during your time at TAFE?
An ink painting that I made in Cert IV in Rina's class, it was my first time painting with ink and I guess I may have fluked it but I put in time and effort and the outcome was better than expected so I am satisfied with it.
